Cholesterol is a fast-like substance or a type of lipid that is found in our body. Our body needs cholesterol to build cells, to make vitamin D, hormones, and substances that help in the digestion of the food. The required amount of cholesterol is made by our liver.

Cholesterol is circulated in our blood. As the amount of cholesterol in our blood increases, it forms plaque in the body affecting our health. Plaque sticks to the walls of the arteries causing them to narrow down or being blocked restricting the flow of blood. 

High cholesterol increases the risk of many cardiovascular diseases such as chest pain, stroke, and heart attack. Several behaviors like unhealthy diet, lack of physical activities, smoking, obesity, etc. affect the level of cholesterol in your body.
