In this condition, the upper back has a natural slight curve. The spine curves in the upper back, neck and the lower back to help take shock and supports the weight of the head. Kyphosis is a condition wherein this natural arch is larger than usual. A person with kyphosis will have a visible hump on their upper back. The most common symptoms in a person with an abnormal kyphosis is the appearance of their poor posture. They seem to have a round back or a hump like appearance which looks far from usual. The symptoms may include muscle fatigue, stiffness of the back and back pain. In most cases, the symptoms remain the same and do not become worse with time. There are very rare cases in which the symptoms have worsened with time.

The treatment for kyphosis usually depends on the severity of the condition and it’s cause. The most common causes behind this condition can be a poor posture which can be improved by doing posture exercises. It is very important to treat bone deterioration to avoid this condition from getting worse. Medications can help a long way in getting away from kyphosis. The treatments that can relieve you from the symptoms of kyphosis could be medication, physical therapy, yoga and losing excessive weight.

In most cases, this condition does not cause serious health problems. This usually depends on the cause of the kyphosis. For example, if your poor posture is responsible for causing kyphosis, it is likely that you may experience pain and breathing difficulties. You can treat kyphosis early on by strengthening the muscles of your back and by seeing a physical therapist. If you improve your posture, you will experience a long term decrease in pain and other symptoms.
